]]><![CDATA[Spring in the woods]]>Wed, 10 Mar 2021 15:47:28 GMThttp://www.louisediggle.com/blog/spring-in-the-woods Signs of spring are daily appearing and one of the plus points of lockdown is being in one place so you can observe the minute differences.  I've set myself a project based on march out of lockdown.  I am pastelling a series of Palmers Wood in march and raising money for St Leonard's Church where £200,000 is urgently needed.  I hope with pastels, prints and cards to help with this urgent appeal and will spread the word on Instagram and Facebook.  3 have sold already.

In the first week of January it seems as if we have fitted in enough news for a year.  As a painter, self isolation is no stranger to me, in fact I find no distractions really helps my work.  I'm dreaming up new subject matter and media so watch this space.  

I've got 2 pastels in the Pastel Society at the Mall Galleries which I'm thrilled about but because of lockdown it will be online. On the positive side, many more people should be able to see the show.  My works are now very big so on the bright side it stops the challenges of big journey into the city centre.

January is a time to reflect - the lack of light makes it more of a race to get out and work but signs of spring are appearing.  

This apple blossom was pastelled under lockdown last year - and it very much feels that spring is round the corner.

This spring was unlike one I've pastelled before - I was in one place (Bedfordshire) in lockdown.  I was extremely fortunate and it was good to be in one place to witness all the minute changes going on.  More work coming up!

]]><![CDATA[2019 Royal Talens/Rembrandt Award at the Pastel Society]]>Tue, 05 Feb 2019 10:26:35 GMThttp://www.louisediggle.com/blog/2019-royal-talensrembrandt-award-at-the-pastel-societyI was absolutely thrilled to receive the 2019 Royal Talens/Rembrandt Award at the Pastel Society Mall Galleries yesterday.  The prize is a large wooden box of beautiful pastels which I can't wait to work with. 
It was a complete surprise; you could have knocked me down with a feather!
Exhibition continues until 16th February.
