INTRODUCTION
India has been described as one of the greatest shows on earth; the glorious bombardment of colour, noise, activity and force of spirit is quite unlike anywhere else.
I found it both compelling and intoxicating to pastel - what a country! I was also enchanted by the contrasting deep peace there is to be found there. Nothing is ever predictable - apart from the sunrise and sunset times - and the extraordinary beauty of those made a strong impression. I was very lucky to go there early this year.
My work is all about light and the way it hits and transforms places and people. I work outside and pastel on the spot. The more one looks, the more is found.
My solo show, the first in seven years, focuses on that trip to Rajasthan, but there are so many other great light shows around the world; some even on our doorstep.
